Spiders Run Well At Swarthmore Final QualifierPublished by
SWARTHMORE, Pa. – Four members of the University of Richmond Spiders track and field team ran well at the Swarthmore Final Qualifier on Monday. The four student-athletes competed looking to improve their standing in qualifying for the NCAA East Regional meet on May 28-30 in Jacksonville, Fla. “We had good performances from the group,” coach Lori Taylor said. “They executed well and raced hard. We just want and need to race a little faster next week.” In the 1500m, Taylor Clevinger led the way for the Spiders, placing seventh overall with a personal-best time of 4:24.90. Classmate Alyson McGonigle finished two places behind Clevinger in ninth with a time of 4:25.53. Marisa Ruskan rounded out the Richmond trio in the event, coming in 25th with a mark of 4:40.81. In the 100m, Janel Francis won the event with a time of 12.30. Francis is a near lock to have already clinched a spot in the NCAA East Regional in the long jump with her mark of 6.15m.
